A call to arms for the the 21st century man

At some point in recent years, you have probably come across the following quote from G. Michael Hopf:

“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times.“

As a late, gen-x child of the 80’s, raised in a two-parent home in a rural middle class neighborhood, I hold great honor for the strong men that paved the way for the safe, free, abundant America I was raised in.

Over the last decade, my heart has grieved as I witnessed the rapid erosion of a nation that once proudly (and correctly) boasted in the chorus “Land of the freeeeeeeeeee…and the home of the braaaaaaaaaave.”

Where have the strong men gone? Where are the brave voices of mighty and righteous men? Where is the aggressive action of fearless young warriors? Where is the sober council of wise kings? Where are the bold men who carry the torch of our founding fathers’ spirit? Where are the men who fear and honor God? Where are the strong, loving husbands and fully engaged fathers?

Reality check: These missing men are supposed to be us.

The fact is, a majority of American men can’t honestly say they feel like men. Most guys today still feel like vulnerable little boys that have to put on a man costume every day, terrified that someone in the scary adult world will see through his fragile mask.

Now, a nation of weak, effeminate man-boys, who endlessly seek after safety, comfort and fantasy are being confronted with the sobering reality that there is no escape in sight. Hard times are lurking around the corner whether you are ready or not.

The best time to mature and prepare for this moment in history was years ago, the second best time is now. Gentlemen, it is within our power to take back our manhood, one habit, one virtue, one disciplined act at a time…starting today.

As this corrupt age continues to neuter men in every way, will you hold the line? Will you accept the discomfort and resistance that comes from operating in your masculine gifts? Will you trade the socially-acceptable weakness of the self-serving western ethos for a vision that transfers a moral, healthy, free, and abundant future to the generations to come?

Welcome to the tribe of the last men standing.
